Our most relaxed class member today!

Stand Tall giraffes

Lyttelton Primary School is lucky to be involved in the Christchurch Stand Tall project. Today we worked in groups of 3 to design our yachts, which have been the chosen emblem for our school's giraffe. More than 50 giraffes, each standing 2.5 metres tall, will be painted and decorated by local artists and planted in parks, streets and open spaces. Christchurch schools will decorate another 50 baby giraffes.
Wild in Art has produced several other public displays around the world. Liverpool has had penguins, Sydney had rhinos and Bristol hosted Gromits, from Wallace and Gromit!
All 100 giraffes will be on display for 12 weeks during summer and would then be auctioned off with proceeds going to charities like Child Cancer, Life in Vacant Spaces and Gap Filler.

Our Little Shops

We are using the little supermarket items and our knowledge of our 2, 5, and 10 times tables, to work out the cost of many items together. It's making Maths a lot of fun.

Animal Control

Baxter, the dog, came to our class, and helped teach us about how to behave around dogs. Remember: "If the dog is on it's own, leave it …?"

Cricket

Some people from the Heathcote Cricket club came and taught us some very cool cricket skills this morning.

Buddy reading

Each morning our big buddies from Room 6 listen to us reading our book, then they read to us. It's brilliant!
